Marc’s Evening Skincare Routine

Here’s the routine I followed for my own lifelong acne. It took consistency before I saw meaningful improvement.

Total time: ~5 minutes

This is Marc’s personal routine and experience, not medical advice. Results vary and are not guaranteed. Adapalene is an acne medication; if you have a skin condition or any medical questions about using it, consult a doctor or dermatologist.

Step 1 — Cleanse

CeraVe Foaming Cleanser

Massage for 60 seconds, rinse with lukewarm water. Hot water strips your barrier — keep it warm, not hot.

Step 2 — Spot Treat (if needed)

La Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo

Only on active breakouts. Don’t apply to your whole face — it’s a targeted treatment, not a moisturizer.

Step 3 — Treat

Adapalene 0.1% (La Roche-Posay Effaclar Adapalene Gel)

This is the ingredient that changes your skin long-term. Adapalene is a retinoid — it’s OTC in the US (also sold as Differin), but it’s an actual acne medication, not a generic skincare product. Start every other night to avoid irritation, then build to nightly over 4–6 weeks.

Step 4 — Moisturize

La Roche-Posay Effaclar Mat Moisturizer

Apply while your face is still slightly damp to lock in moisture. The mat formulation keeps oil under control without clogging pores.

The Pillowcase Tip Most Men Miss

Flip your pillowcase every night instead of washing it every week. You get 14 clean sides from 7 pillowcases — that’s 14 nights before you’re sleeping on bacteria again. Simple change. Real impact.

One More Thing

Skin doesn’t change overnight. Give a routine time to work, but if irritation or breakouts get worse, stop and check with a doctor or dermatologist.
